Q. Why take a cruise? A. A cruise is an all-inclusive vacation. You pay one price and your accommodations and meals are included. It is also a good way to meet people and grow friendships. Q. What are shore excursions? A. Shore excursions are side trips that are offered at each port of call. They can be booked through the cruise line for an extra fee. Most cruise lines allow you to book them online prior to the cruise. Q. What if I need a doctor? A. There is a medical staff and a doctor onboard most cruise ships. They do charge fees so it is a good idea to check with your insurance company as to what you are covered for. We also recommend trip insurance that can help offset medical costs that could occur. Q. What if I need to cancel? A. You can cancel without penalty (most cruise lines) up until the day the final payment is due. After final payment there are varying penalties that will be imposed from the cruise line, we do not charge cancellation fees from the agency. Trip insurance is recommended in case cancellation is necessary. Q. What is pre-registering? A. For security reasons the cruise lines now allow people to pre-register online prior to the cruise. This will also save time at check in. We will explain the pre-registration process after your deposit. Q. What is there for children to do? A. There are camps set up for children of all ages on most ships. There are many activities for children during the cruise. They will never be bored. There are also babysitting specials for an extra fee. Q. Do I need a passport? A. A passport is always recommended. But for most(some Caribbean countries now require a passport) of the Caribbean an original birth certificate and a government issued photo I.D. for passengers 16 and over are sufficient. For cruises and tours outside the U.S. and Caribbean a passport and possibly a visa will be required. You will be notified if a passport or visa is required in most cases. It is recommended that you inquire about these requirements on your own as they can change at any time. Starting at the end of 2006 there will be changes made to the U.S. immigration system. Please ask for details. Q. How do I pay for onboard charges? A. When you pre-register and check in you will set up a shipboard account that will allow you to charge anything you need on the ship to your account. You settle the charges at the end of the cruise. Q. What do I wear on formal nights? A. Formal nights vary depending on the number of nights your cruise is. Men can wear tuxedos, or a suit and tie. Ladies can wear an evening gown, cocktail dress, or a nice pantsuit. Q. What about tipping? A. Most cruise lines automatically charge $10.00 per person per day for tips. They also add a 15% gratuity to your bar bill. Tipping is at your discretion. You can tip more or less; you just have to talk to the purser. Q. What if I need airline flights or transportation to and the ship? A. You can book your airfare through the cruise line or on your own. If you book your airfare through the cruise line your transfers will be included (in most cases). If you book your air on your own you can purchase transfers through the cruise line. Q. What happens if I need to contact home? A. Cruise lines are now set up with Internet service for an extra fee. If it is an emergency you can call from the ship for an extra charge. |
